Northumberland, famous for its rich history and castles, breathtaking countryside and golden beaches, is the perfect location for a short break or a longer stay. With huge expanses of untouched countryside, national parks and areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it will take many, many visits to explore the area, so start now from an ideal base to start your exploration.
Northumbria is not only breath taking views of beautiful untouched countryside, but an area on the rise. With villages once thought dead, now growing, and a city now very much the heart of cultural significance here in the north. This part of the country is continuing to improve in all areas, with the needs of visitors at the forefront of development.
One place which should be a "must visit" is the regenerated Quayside in Newcastle which now houses the "Blinking Eye" Millennium Bridge, the Baltic Art Gallery and currently under construction The Sage, a purpose built music venue on the southern side of the river.
Another attraction that is new and bringing visitors to the region in their droves is the Alnwick Castle Gardens, the brainchild of the current Duchess of Northumberland, rebuilding and adding to the old garden which was dug up to be used in the war effort, now beautifully sculpted around the magnificent cascading water fountain. This has to be seen in person, to be truly appreciated.
Northumbria is of course a wide and varied land, holding treasures from prehistoric times through to the cutting edge of the 21st century. There is plenty to see and do all year round, you will not be disappointed when you visit us here, in fact, you would not be alone if you fell in love with this fair county, many before you have and many more to come will do the same.
